"As a first-time mom, I quickly found myself drowning in overwhelm with the barrage of unsolicited advice and maternity how-tos and checklists.

What Katy provided was a one-stop resource with practical, organized, and reliable education to support my pregnancy journey.

I felt supported, prepared, and empowered to create a nourishing environment for my baby, a support system and boundaries to care for my mental health, and I had tactical steps to take through postpartum.

I couldn't be more grateful to Katy and would recommend her to any first-time moms!"

The Postpartum Playbook

Preparing For Your Physical and Emotional Recovery

Our grandmothers talk about the newborn stage like it's this glowing time. "Cherish every second," we're told. But how are we supposed to enjoy every moment when our bodies are going through a massive shift unlike anything we've ever experienced?

That's why it pays to follow in the footsteps of those who have gone before you. In this section, I combine my personal experience with that of thousands of other moms--plus tons of research & expert advice--to help you create a playbook that will support you through recovery after birth.

Module 1 Highlights

  • What No One Tells You (And Why It's Not Scary): Typically, people sugar coat the postpartum experience, or they scare you to death. But it's possible to be honest and supportive. Learn what to actually expect & how to make it manageable.
  • What's happening in your postpartum body with strategies to support your physical recovery.
  • A mental health game plan that's ready to go before baby arrives, so you and your support people know what's normal, what's not, & how to easily get professional help if needed.
  • "Just-In-Case" Decisions: New moms often tell me they wish they'd made a few sanity-saving decisions ahead of time in case things don't go as planned. Learn what they are & make them.

Building A Support Network

Secrets to Creating Your Village & Delegating to Them

It's okay to ask for help! In fact, it's essential. We always hear "It takes a village," but where are the villages? Most of us don't live in them anymore. The The notion that it takes a village comes from a bygone time when we lived more communally, more multi-generationally, and less hurriedly.

So how do we get support in present-day life? By developing realistic expectations of our own abilities & working within our own circumstances to create supportive networks. There's no one-size-fits-all.

Module 2 Highlights

  • A shared-responsibility plan with your partner is essential for managing your own physical & mental load. Learn to work together to share the load, hold each other accountable, & accept that the other's way is okay, even if it's not the same as your way.
  • Your support network map will help you set realistic expectations for different people to make delegating easier and more effective.
  • Create task lists for different size tasks you'll need help with before and after baby, and learn to delegate those tasks effectively based on your personal network map.
  • Hiring extra help: Sometimes, the best support comes from the outside. You'll learn about options for bringing in outside help for different budgets and needs, and discover how to use your baby registry to help cover the cost.

Meet Katy, Your Instructor & Friend

A photo of a smiling blonde mom sitting in a chair cradling her newborn baby and 4 year old son, with text overlay that says Hi, I'm Katy!

Hi, I'm Katy, your best new mom friend who has been there, done that, and is on a mission to help you do it better.

Here's something you should know about me. When I was in grad school, I spent 6 years studying how totally impossible it can feel to be a mom. Not because the job is impossible, but because we put CRAZY expectations on parents with all these different schools of thought on how to do it best.

Then I became a mom, and I realized how practical that research had been. There's a HUGE gap in support for parents that wants to help them for their own sake, not just for the sake of their kids.

This is what I believe: If you care about being the best version of yourself and model that self love for your kids, they will be better for it. Period.

I'm not going to tell you to breastfeed or formula feed. To sleep train or not to sleep train. To stay home or go to work. And I'm sure as hell not going to tell you to do it all.

What I will tell you is that it's possible to be fulfilled in parenthood, and still be your own unique, vibrant self.

So this is me. I'm a babywearing, breastfeeding, sleep training, working mom who knows--doesn't think, but KNOWS--that you can rock this parenting thing even if you don't do any of it like I do. And I want to help you get there.

Can we be friends?

I want to tell you a story, friend. It isn't pretty, but it's real, and that's what we need more of, right?

A photo of a mom who looks exhausted, holding a newborn on her chest with a burp cloth over her shoulder and a pillow behind her back, while a dog sits in front of her looking straight at the camera. There is text below the photo that says "This is me, postpartum and drowning. Here's what I learned."

For years, I wanted nothing more than to have a baby. When I took care of other people’s babies (and it felt like EVERYONE else was having them), people said I was a “natural.”

I setup my niece’s nursery, made up songs just for her, and cried the first time I successfully shushed a friend’s baby to sleep. I even gave a new mom friend a swaddling tutorial. I was as ready as anyone could be.

Until I wasn’t.

When I brought Jack home--a moment I hadn’t actually allowed myself to imagine--I suddenly felt like I had NO IDEA what I was doing. The anxiety and guilt came flooding in, and they pummeled me for the next 30 months.

I had spent years trying to get to this baby. I had grieved so many losses.

Why didn’t I enjoy it more? What was wrong with me?  I had made it through recurrent miscarriage. I thought the hard part was behind me.

With the help of two therapists, an incredible support system, a lot of hard work, and some help from Zoloft, I managed to claw my way out of this guilt-ridden pile of anxiety.

And then, I did what I do best. I started digging for answers.

  • What could I have done differently?
  • How could I have prepared better?
  • What steps could I take to better support myself next time?
  • How could I prevent other moms from ever having to feel this way?

That’s when I realized.

No one can prepare you for the massive emotional shift of going from pregnant to parent.

But you can take tangible steps to prepare yourself, your home, and your relationships. And by doing that work before baby arrives, you can have systems in place to support you through early new motherhood.

In the 4 ½ years between Jack and Branham, I created these systems. When I was pregnant with Branham, I implemented them. And when she was born, I discovered first-hand the difference between surviving in new motherhood and thriving.

This is an experience I treasure. It’s what we all deserve, and I want to help you get there.
